How Many Customized Ringtones Can I Upload

While you have the space, many phones are only designed to hold one to five customizable ringtones at a time, so be sure to check your manual.

Does Your Cellphone Provider Allow you to Upload Ringtones?

Not all manufacturers allow you to program and upload your own ring tones to your phone. (Why would they want to when they can charge you to buy their own)? If you are in the process of shopping for a new cellphone, but sure to ask the sales representative if you can upload your own ringtones.

Many service providers such as Verizon offer “Get it Now’ which is a web-based feature that allows you to download ringtones for a fee.

If you are using a cellphone that is four years old or older, it may not be equipped to handle downloads.

Ringtone Basics

You can save songs from a CD to your computer or from your CD to an MP3 player. To save songs from your computer to a CD you would “burn” the CD which basically just means saving the songs to the disk.

However you listen to it (CD, MP3 player, IPod, online music service like Rhapsody) chances are you are listening to that song in MP3 or .wav format.

Cellphone ringtones are in a different format.

That is why you cannot just burn a CD to your computer than then upload that to your phone. There is a conversion step in between which we'll walk you through. It's not complicate. Think of converting music into a ringtone like this: sometimes you have to convert numbers differently to conform to a different system. All we're going to do here is take a file and convert it to be read properly by a different system.

Additionally, you probably don't want the entire song, but rather a chorus or maybe a few funny lines from a comedy CD. You can do anything, so be creative. All you have to do to achieve this is fine the file, use a free software to isolate the section you want to use as a ringtone. Next, convert, save and send to your phone (we'll walk you through step-by-step).

Don't overcomlicate this or let your imagination get the best of you on how many steps are involved. This is easy--adn before you know it you'll have a ringtone unique to you that you made for FREE.

RAVING ABOUT RINGTONES

Does making your own cellphone ringtone sound like a job for Albert Einstein or Superman? It's not complicated, really! Anyone who wants unique and fun ringtones that the entire world can hear while on a bus, library, or while waking the street can do this.

In theory, burning a song onto your computer’s hard drive and sending it to your phone should be an easy thing, but there are other factors involved. Mainly, can your phone accept media through text messages, and/or do you have Bluetooth technology. Thirdly, does your cellphone service provider allow these types of transfers. Many of the older phones simply are not advanced enough for converted ringtones, while carriers, such as Verizon, offer a paid ringtone service to cutomers and makes it challenging for customers who want to upload their own for free.

No matter what cellphone carrier you use, this guide will walk you through creating and saving a ringtone to your phone--for free. No time consuming downloads or things I'm trying to sell you--just information you can use right now to achieve your goal!!
